Diamon-Fusion® Makes Your Life Easier

Keeping your shower enclosures, counter tops, windows, sinks, toilets and other surfaces around your home beautiful usually means spending time and money scrubbing with harsh cleaners. Now you can let Diamon-Fusion® put an end to all back-breaking work as well as the environmental pollution those cleaning solutions can cause.

Diamon-Fusion®’s  patented technology makes surfaces easier to clean by making them more water and oil repellent. The less water and oils stick to the surface, the less they can deposit their contents such as hard water stains, soap scum, and other waste products onto your surfaces.

Any small amount that may stick to a Diamon-Fusion® treated surface can be easily removed with just clean water and a minimum of effort.

Why Diamon-Fusion® ?

Beautify Your Home •  Clean Less

Homeowners around the globe have discovered DFI’s unique products to help restore, maintain and protect surfaces. Surfaces treated with Diamon-Fusion® become water and oil repellent resulting in:

  • Less frequent cleanings
  • A reduction in mold and bacteria
  • Resistance to leaching of calcium and sodium (etching caused by hard water)
  • At least 20% more brilliance
  • No need for harsh chemicals cleaners
  • Eco-friendly cleaning

Diamon-Fusion® Nanotechnology

DFI’s  patented nanotechnology can be easily installed by trained professionals on new and existing surfaces in homes, businesses, vehicles and many other surfaces.  DFI’s  nano chemistry can be applied to most surfaces containing silica (silicon dioxide) such as glass, ceramic tile, porcelain, granite and quartz. The chemical reaction bonds to form an ultra-thin protective layer of optically clear material which makes the surface significantly easier to clean and resistant to weathering.

The bond created in the patented process is a covalent bond. A covalent bond means that the coating actually shares electrons with molecules in the glass itself, thus becoming part of the glass. Covalent bonds are approximately 10-times stronger than hydrogen-bridge bonds, which are commonly used in most other water repellent coatings.

A Closer View…

Diamon-Fusion® offers a brilliant solution in protection and performance!

STEP ONE: A chemical fills in the microscopic ridges

STEP TWO: This bonding substrate is then capped and sealed, enhancing surface smoothness

Here’s what makes patentedDiamon-Fusion® nanotechnology BETTER than the competition!

Splendor_DFI_flyer.png

Eco-Friendly

Diamon-Fusion® is good for you and for the environment. DFI treated surfaces resist staining, therefore they do not need to be cleaned as often to maintain the beauty of the surface. A reduction in the cleaning required means less water used. Conserving that water helps protect the environment and saves money today and into the future. DFI coatings are “easy-to-clean”, using only water, thus requiring no chemical cleaners.

Protects Your Investment

Over time, hard water stains can destroy the beauty of glass, granite, tile, porcelain, and many other materials in your home by leaching minerals from these surfaces resulting in permanent damage. The surface can be perfectly clean, but this damage results in a white hazy or frosted appearance. However, if that surface is treated with Diamon-Fusion® upon installation (or soon after), this damage can be prevented.

The secret is in DFI’s patented technology that improves and protects treated surfaces with an ultra-smooth barrier against:

  • Hard Water Mineral Deposits
  • Environmental Pollutants
  • Weathering

The Patent Proves It!

Everyone knows that when you have a major new technology, you patent it to protect the idea. Nanotechnology is is no different. The United States Patent number for Diamon-Fusion®  is 6,245,387 and can be found on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office website (www.uspto.gov).

In the sea of questionable claims about what products can do, a patent is the rock that you can rely on to ensure the technology is real. As new coatings enter the market, look to see if they are patented. DFI protective coatings reduce that work by up to 90% and eliminate those environmental pollutants.

Diamon-Fusion International, the maker of Diamon-Fusion®, has patents or patents pending in more than 120 countries worldwide.

Tempered glass, which is stronger than regular glass, is used to make glass shower doors. Doors with an effective depth of 3/8″ and glass thicknesses of 34″ and 12″ are considered stronger. So you’ve thought about getting glass shower doors. But you’re not quite sure whether to make the investment. In this blog, we discuss several reasons why you should install glass in your bathroom.

Less Mold and Mildew Growth:

Vinyl shower curtains (or curtains made of similar material) tend to accumulate the ill effects of constant water exposure, namely mold and mildew. While mold doesn’t damage your curtain, it certainly looks unattractive and can even harm your health over time.

A glass shower door is impervious to pesky mold growth. Depending on the type of glass and the style of door, you can completely avoid the hassle of cleaning gunk & grime. Additionally, your shower floor will stay cleaner longer without a bunched-up curtain causing a mess or acting as a breeding ground for mold.

Easy Maintenance:

Glass doors won’t stay crystal clear forever. However, keeping them clean and clear requires little effort. If you use soft water, you’ll be able to avoid nearly all forms of maintenance on it. If you shower with hard water, you can periodically remove hard water stains on the glass easily.

For frameless doors, simply run a sponge across the surface, and then wipe off remaining water with a clean microfiber rag. If you opt for framed or semi-frameless doors, make sure to add in the extra step of wiping down metal areas. This cleanup process only lasts a few minutes and only needs to be done every few days.

Improved Home Value:

You might plan on moving within the next few years, and to make your home more appealing, you want to upgrade a few appliances or remodel a room. But even if you’re staying for good, it never hurts to add glass doors to your shower. Frosted or clear glass walls and doors instantly add a touch of modern elegance to your bathroom.

Family members, friends, and prospective home buyers will take notice of your bathroom when they see bold or vintage glass door setups in the bathroom. Plus, as a homeowner, you won’t have to feel embarrassed when you show your guests the bathroom. Rather, you’ll be eager to introduce them to a luxurious shower scene.

And remember, even though the initial cost to install glass doors can be high, your investment will surely pay off than in the long run.

Strength and Durability:

You might shy away from choosing glass shower doors out of fear they’ll crack or shatter. But when you trust a reliable glass manufacturing company, your shower will be outfitted with strong, tempered glass material. Tempered glass is constructed through rigorous thermal treatments, and if it breaks, it separates into tiny grain-shaped pieces rather than large shards that can do real damage.

In the event that your shower door breaks, you’ll be left with a safer, less frustrating. However, most glass shower enclosures last decades and come with lifetime guarantees.

Open and Bright Space:

When you enter your bathroom, you want to wind down and relax. You don’t want to feel claustrophobic or see any clutter. A bathroom without glasswork might feel more closed in. On the other hand, a bathroom equipped with glass shower doors has a more open and inviting quality.

The glass surrounding your shower can make your small bathroom appear larger. In addition, the glass will help to reflect more light along with your mirrors, lending a brighter touch to the atmosphere. Glass shower doors will help you feel more at ease.

Showcase for Your Style:

Have you thought about redoing your shower floors or walls? If you’re tired of a cramped stand-in shower spot or an outdated shower tub, you’ve probably considered adding tile, stone, or porcelain to spruce your shower up. When you install glass shower doors, you can always view your stylish additions, inside or out of the shower.

Whether you have a pleasant blue theme or an edgy black one, a glass shower door doesn’t hamper your chance to take in the personal style that makes your bathroom pop.

Ready to Make Your Decision?

The list above constitutes some of the most appealing benefits of glass shower doors. Use these tips to help your decision to buy a new glass shower enclosure. Your trusted glass company MrGoGlass can walk you through every step of the way, from choosing a design to providing expert installation.

Have you woken up recently, rushed into the bathroom to start your morning routine, only to be greeted with a blurry mirror and toothpaste stains? Rest assured, you don’t need glasses. You only need a better mirror care routine!

Mirrors provide both function and aesthetic benefits. Small spaces become wide open spaces with the proper placement. Mirrors refract light bringing natural light into any home or office. Beautiful mirrors create the feel of elegance and relaxation. In addition, we rely on mirrors daily from the moment we wake up till our bedtime routine.

But nothing can ruin a room like a dirty or tarnished mirror. With our steps to caring for and cleaning, your mirror can continue to bring beauty to your space for a long time.

Mirror Care Tips

  • Your mirror will provide years of service and beauty by following these care and maintenance good practices.
  • The safest cleaner for a mirror is clean, warm water applied with a soft cloth. Be careful not to allow the edges of the mirror to remain wet over a period of time.
  • Do not use any acidic or alkali cleaners. They can attack the surface and edges as well as the backing of the mirror. Never use an abrasive cleaner on any mirror surface.
  • Do not use cleaners with heavy ammonia bases. These, too, can damage the mirror edges and backing and will result in a ruined mirror.
  • Never spray any cleaner directly on to a mirror. Instead, apply the cleaner to a soft cloth and then wipe the mirror. This will also prevent “puddling” at the mirror edge where the cleaner could attack the backing.
  • Always use soft, grit-free cloths when cleaning a mirror to reduce chances of scratching the surface.
  • Be sure to dry all joints and edges thoroughly to be certain no cleaner comes in contact with the edge and backing.

Keep your mirrors looking like new with regular maintenance using the right products. Visit your local GoGlass for our recommended glass and mirror cleaner.

Santa and his reindeer have packed up, returning to the North Pole. Time to take down the tree and throw away the torn pieces of wrapping paper. As you return your home to normal spick and span condition, your windows beckon. The artificial snow and frosty window coverings have dried and now form a gunky mess on your windows.

Spray-on snow can often leave a milky white tacky substance once you have removed the bulk of it. Getting rid of the residue is effortless with the help of several household items.

Cleaning your windows is easier than you think. Start your New Year resolutions right with our tips.

Clean Your Windows

Vacuum Your Snow

For the snow that is loosely attached to your window, just lying on the sill, or on the ground below use your vacuum cleaner to get it up.  For the window sill and the window use one of the attachments to get in all the nooks and crannies, preferable the one with the bristles on it.

The floor should be vacuumed last and can be done with the main part of the vacuum.

Protect Your Home from Wet Snow

When you are cleaning up artificial window snow, it is always best to take precautions and protect your wood window sill and carpet below your window.

So, after you are done vacuuming the area around the windows, put down towels on both the carpet and the window sill.  That way if you do have anything drip off your window on accident while you are cleaning it, the area around it will already be protected.

Spray, Don’t Scrape the Snow

For the artificial window snow that is stuck on firmly, wash it off – never scrape it!

While many people scrape the snow off their windows, this isn’t a good idea.  First, scraping the artificial snow off increases your chance that you are going to permanently damage the glass.  Second, the snow that you are scraping off ends up all over the place, which creates another mess for you to clean up.

Instead, spray small sections of the snow with our aerosol window cleaner.  Allow the cleaner to sit for about 30 seconds, and then take a paper towel and rub the cleaner into the artificial snow with medium pressure until it starts to come off of the glass. Once the snow starts smearing, replace with a new paper towel.

Repeat the above steps until all of the snow is off the window and your windows are clean. Stop by your local GoGlass for additional pointers or to pick up your GoGlass Cleaner.

Your spa bathroom deserves to be impeccably maintained. Luckily, shower maintenance does not need to be grueling. With a small routine and a little elbow grease, your spa getaway can retain its slice of heaven.

One of the peskiest of shower concerns during cleaning and maintenance is grout. Your grout can take a beating with daily showers, soap, scum and constant dampness. Therefore, your it can develop black ickiness fast. Grout absorbs water, and then mildewing and discoloration occurs. Without proper care, grout will stain and erode, causing water to leak behind the sealant.

Another major concern for shower maintenance is water spots and stains. Not only do these spots lessen the appearance of the shower doors, they also can cause etching in the glass. After long term exposure, the glass will begin to be damaged by the water spots.

But never fear, help is here. Your shower can easily maintain its perfect appearance or return to its former glory with minimal effort.

Tips To Maintain Your Shower

Rinse

Rinse your shower after each use. This will rinse the gunk, grime and hair down the drain and off your surfaces.

Run that Fan

Prevent mold and mildew by running that fan on a regular basis and definitely during those hot showers. Leave your fan on for 15 minutes after the shower to help remove the moisture from the air.

The Power of Steam

Wipe your shower doors during or after your shower. The steam helps loosen the grime and helps keep your shower cleaner longer.

Microfiber

Wipe your tile and shower door down with microfiber towels. This will soak up the pesky water droplets and not leave behind any lint.

Door Ajar

Leave your shower door open after your shower. This will disperse any leftover humidity from being trapped in the shower.

Get down to the nitty gritty and what should you do day in and day out?

Maintenance Checklist

Once a Week

  • Spray your walls with diluted cleaner or a vinegar water solution with a few drops of tea tree oil.
  • Wipe the tiles and shower walls with a sponge
  • Clean the grout weekly with a soft scrub brush and some elbow grease. Avoid bleach or other harsh chemicals.
  • Remove soap scum from shower doors. We recommend applying a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Leave on for 20 minutes to an hour and scrub using a microfiber cloth. For an extra cleaning, add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide.

As Needed…

  • Seal grout once or twice a year, depending on shower use.
  • Clean your shower head. Tie a plastic baggie filled with white distilled vinegar around the shower head. Allow this to sit overnight, and then remove in the morning. Run the shower to flush out any dissolved build-up.

A Final Word on Grout

Avoid Harsh Chemicals

While you may have faster, brighter results with hard chemicals, they will strip away the sealant.

Use a Squeegee

Squeegee your shower door and walls after every use. If you do this after each use, then less water will dry on your grout, tile and shower, thereby leaving fewer mineral deposits.

Hard Water How To

Now that your grout is impeccable, shiny and white, your glass needs to follow suit. But rest assured, hard water stains are easier solved than you think. A little elbow grease can go a long way.

If your water spots will not budge, stop by your local GoGlass location for a sample of our Bio-Clean.

Bio-Clean is a hard water stain remover containing non-chemical, non-acidic based cleaning ingredients. You can wipe those stains away without worry. Bio-Clean is safe to use throughout your entire bathroom and is endorsed by GoGlass experts and can be purchased at any of our 6 locations. Learn more about our hard water tips at here.

Mirror Mirror… Mirrors add a dramatic flair to any room. Mirrors brighten and widen the smallest and darkest of rooms making them more comfortable and inviting. Wall mirrors add a decorative look to your room, creating an ideal focal point to your space. The key is choosing the right mirror for your room and the look that you want to create.

Mirror Tips

Size

The size of the mirror directly correlates with the impact made in your room. If hanging your mirror on a large wall in your living room, dining room or bedroom, and want to make a bold statement, opt for an extra-large mirror, measuring between 25 and 31 inches on each side. If using your mirror as an accent on a small wall near your entryway, opt for a small one 10 inches on each side. Measuring your wall ensures you pick the perfect size and parameters.

Shape

Square and rectangular shape remain the most common, but there are as many shapes as you can imagine. Rectangular mirrors provide a traditional look, but choosing a mirror in an unusual shape brings attention to a wall and extra flair. Circular or oval wall mirrors create a striking look. Funky triangle and diamond-shaped mirrors add a quirky touch to any room. If you want to make a big design statement, however, choose a bold design that draws the eye.

Style

Styles vary as much if not more than shape choices. Some wall mirrors rely on their size and shape to create a strong presence without a frame.  When you’re shopping for a mirror, however, you can also opt for a style with a frame that packs a decorative punch all its own. Choose a simple wooden or metal frame for a sleek, streamlined look. For a more formal, dramatic look, seek out a mirror with an ornate, gilded frame to serve as a strong focal point for your room. You can also find wall mirrors with mosaic-style frames that feature bits of tile for a fun, eye-catching look.

Maintenance and Care

Proper care of your mirrors requires a little extra maintenance and care.

Avoid Cleaning Glass while Dry

Do not wipe glass with a piece of cloth when the glass is dry. Dust particles on the cloth can scratch the glass and make it more susceptible to damage in the future. Use a moist soft duster or damp soft cloth for cleaning glass.

Do Not Use Soap

Avoid using soap or detergents of any kind as it can end up damaging the coating on the surface of the glass. Use specialized cleaner for glass to avoid damaging.

Be Gentle

Your mirror attracts dust particles while you are cleaning your carpet and vacuuming. So, try to wipe your mirror softly.

Strict ‘No’ for Paper Towels, Dry Cloth and Tissues

Avoid using paper towels, clothes and tissues as they may be soft, but may have a crude surface that can easily attract dust or scratch your mirror. Use microfibers to elongate their life.

GoGlass is an expert when it comes to mirror installation or residential and commercial glass replacement. The dedicated team will offer you the best advice regarding residential, commercial & auto glass repair that meets your needs as well as your budget. Close your eyes. Imagine your perfect bathroom. There’s a large claw foot tub or a modern air jet soaker. You’re finally relaxing in your bubbles. Maybe you hold a glass of wine. Or a good book lays on the ledge. The soothing scents of your new candle wafts through the room.   Slowly open your eyes. You glance across the room, settling on your luxurious steam shower enclosure. Smiling, you take in the private oasis of your spa bathroom.

Suddenly, you spot something upsetting. Your spa getaway has a flaw. Hard water stains and mineral deposits catch the light of your candles and reality comes crashing down. You scrubbed and scrubbed, but those hard water stains, mineral deposits and gunk buildup refuse to budge.

Harsh chemicals strip your home and force toxins into the air. According to the American Lung Association, many cleaning supplies or household products can irritate the eyes or throat, or cause headaches and other health problems, including cancer. Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Other harmful ingredients include ammonia and bleach.

While those stains can be challenging, there are safe, environmentally friendly solutions.

Hard Water Stain Removal Tips

Bio-Clean

Bio-Clean is a hard water stain remover containing non-chemical, non-acidic based cleaning ingredients. You can wipe those stains away without worry. Bio-Clean will not harm or damage skin if touched. This cleaning solution will remove soap scum, hard water stains, calcium, mineral deposits and grime on your bathtub and shower. Bio-Clean is safe to use throughout your entire bathroom and is endorsed by GoGlass experts and can be purchased at any of our 6 locations.

How to Use Bio-Clean

  • Apply stain remover to cloth. No gloves needed.
  • Rub for 8-10 seconds
  • Wipe product off with second cloth
  • Rinse with water
  • Stain is gone!

Your oasis has been restored. Your shower looks brand new. You sigh in relief and enjoy your paradise again, only to realize the kiddos’ toothpaste left streaks along the mirror. You snort in frustration, remembering the last time you cleaned the mirrors, leaving streaks and bits of paper towel. No matter how many times you sprayed and wiped, the mirror did not shine.

You remember your coughing and shortness of breath the last time you used a popular, blue cleaner. You know that some people can experience redness, rash or even burning on the skin with prolonged contact. Ammonia-based glass cleaners can harm glass shower doors, and abrasive brushes and sponges can leave scratches in the glass and wear down the finish of the door’s frame. The manufacturer of your glass shower door may require that you avoid these cleaning products and tools, as well as others, to maintain your warranty. But don’t worry, GoGlass has an alternative that leaves your glass sparkling.

Dirty Glass Solutions

  • Leave shower door ajar to keep from trapping moisture

Diamon-Fusion International (DFI) Application

Concerned about an extra level of protection? We apply this to the new or existing shower doors to prevent new water stains from happening. By filling in the microscopic peaks and valleys of the surface, DFI creates an ultra-thin, invisible barrier that protects glass from stains, corrosion, and other environmental pollutants. Also, a DFI application makes cleaning easier and less frequent.

Finally

Over time, your shower and shower door may accumulate shower mold. This mold is unsightly and can be unhealthy, but there are some methods for removing it.

Read on for some tips and advice on how to clean shower mold

Vacuum

Before you clean shower mold, you will want to clean your shower walls with a vacuum with a HEPA filter. This can help remove any loose mold rather than just moving it around your shower.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is an effective, gentle inexpensive cleanser. You can use baking soda to make your own shower cleaner. Use one cup of baking soda, one teaspoon of liquid soap, a few drops of essential oils, and enough water to make a paste. Spread the paste over the mold and allow to sit for a few minutes, then wipe away with hot water. Do not forget to clean mold from the shower door. This should remove most of the mold.

Bleach

For the mold that was not removed by the baking soda paste, you should try bleach. Make a solution of 1 part bleach to 2 parts water and put in a spray bottle. Spray directly onto the mold and allow to it to dry. Spray again and then use a scrub brush to remove the mold. Rinse with water. If there is still mold left, repeat the bleach process.

Bleach can be dangerous. Make sure to wear gloves and keep the bathroom ventilated to prevent inhaling toxic fumes.

Replace Caulk or Grout

If you cannot get rid of all of the mold, you may want to consider replacing the caulk or grout in your shower.

Vinegar

You can also try cleaning your shower mold with vinegar. Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and spray the mold until coated with vinegar. Let it sit for 1 to 2 hours. Use a microfiber rag to scrub away the mold. You can use a toothbrush to scrub the grout and remove mold shower door hinge.

If you try the vinegar method along with the baking soda method, make sure to keep your bathroom well ventilated, as the mixture of the two results in the production of carbon dioxide, which can be toxic in large quantities.

Borax

Borax is another cleanser you can try. Dissolve 1 cup of borax into 1 gallon of water. Use a scrub brush to spread the borax solution onto the mold and scrub it away. Wipe away with a damp washcloth and let dry.

Ammonia

Use clear ammonia in a spray bottle to spray directly onto the mold. Then use a scrub brush to remove and rinse away. Make sure the room is ventilated, as ammonia can give off potent fumes.

If you plan to use ammonia, make sure that you do not mix it with bleach, as it can create hazardous fumes.

Replace Your Shower Door

If the mold simply will not budge and you cannot clean the moldy shower door or remove the moldy shower door hinge, it is time for a new shower door. GoGlass can help you replace and install your new shower door to return your shower to its original sparkle.

Glass require a little extra maintenance and care. Even those that come at a premium price need special care. Cleaning glass is not difficult. But often, we end up making mistakes we are not aware of due to certain particularities that need to be followed.

Check out these little mistakes that we usually make while cleaning glass. If you avoid them, you will enjoy a longer life for your window and patio glass, door glass, storefront glass, shower door glass, tabletops, shelves and decorative glass, mirror glass and more.

You might have a cleaner but it does not mean that it is good for cleaning glass as well. Use specialized cleaner for glass to avoid damaging.

Be Gentle on the Glass

Glass and frame require a different cleaning approach. Your door glass or window glass can attract dust particles while you are cleaning your carpet and vacuuming. So try to wipe your glass softly while you can rub harder on the rim to make it shine.

Strict ‘No’ for Paper Towels, Dry Cloth and Tissues

Avoid using paper towels, clothes and tissues as they may be soft, but may have a crude surface that can easily attract dust or scratch your residential glass or storefront glass. Use microfibers to elongate their life.

Keep your home glass clean and damage-free by following the tips mentioned above. If you still face any issue with any of your home glass, contact a professional from GoGlass, the residential glass company to inspect and find out what exactly the problem is and why, in spite of regular cleaning, they still look unclean and function improperly.
